Hindustan Zinc 11 beat Doon Star Football Club, Dehradun, 1-0 to advance to the semi-finals; second quarter-final today between Punjab 11 and Kashmir United Football Club
Udaipur, January 23, 2025 – The quarter-final match of the All India Mohan Kumar Mangalam Memorial Hindi Zinc Football Tournament was played between Hindustan Zinc 11 (HZL) and Doon Star Football Club (DSFC), Dehradun, yesterday. Hindustan Zinc won the match 1-0 and have advanced to the semi-finals.
It was the fifth day of the largest football competition of the division which was being held at Jawar Mines. The host team, HZL had a large number of spectators rooting for them. It was an exciting game to watch with both teams playing competitive football. DSFC got an opportunity to score in the first 10 minutes into the game when it failed to convert a corner.
In the 32nd minute of the first half, a foul by a DSFC player outside the D-zone awarded a free kick to HZL and the host team was quick to take advantage of it with Ashish scoring the first goal for his team.
After half time, DSFC tried hard to equalise. Both teams showed aggression in their game. In the 25th minute, DSFC got an opportunity to score but HZL goalkeeper made a diving save.
Event secretary Lalu Ram Meena mentioned that today January 23, the second quarter-final match will be played between Punjab 11 and Kashmir United Football Club from 3:00 pm
