Udaipur, Oct 31, 2025: The Indian team made history on Thursday by defeating seven-time champions Australia. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India completed the highest-ever run chase at the DY Patil Stadium and booked their place in the final of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup. India will now face South Africa in the final.

After the historic win, captain Harmanpreet Kaur made some interesting revelations. She also shared her conversation with the coach after the match. The Indian captain said, “I am very proud. I have no words to express my feelings. It feels great. We worked hard for years, and this time we finally crossed the line.”

Proud of This Team

Harmanpreet Kaur said, “We tell each other that we achieved this because we worked hard. The coach and I are very proud of this team. We believe that any player can win a match from any situation. We made some mistakes, but we learned from them and moved forward.”

She added, “Against Australia, we wanted all the conditions to be in our favor. We kept reminding each other to stay at the crease for the team, and it worked. In the match against England, we realized we didn’t follow the plan properly. We delayed it by 2-3 overs. We should have taken the risk earlier, and we paid the price for it.”

Our Strategy Worked

The 36-year-old captain said, “We discussed everything and decided to play smartly. Once you are out of the match, it’s hard to come back. I know it’s a 50-over game, but you have to stay sharp and make smart decisions in the last five overs. We knew what we needed to do and wanted to finish the game before the 50th over.”

Always Confident in Jemimah

Harmanpreet praised Player of the Match Jemimah Rodrigues (127*). She said, “Jemimah always wants to do better for the team. She is very smart and ready to take responsibility. We always have confidence in her. When we bat together, we encourage each other.”

She added, “Jemimah always tells me, ‘We’ve got five runs, we’ve got seven runs, two balls left.’ This shows how focused she is on the game. Her thinking is brilliant. She deserves full credit for staying calm and finishing the match for the team.”

Focus on the Final

Talking about reaching the final, Harmanpreet said, “One more match to go. We played well today and are happy with the result, but we’ve already started thinking about the next match. This shows how focused we are and how much we want to win the World Cup. Playing the World Cup at home is special, and we want to give our families and fans the trophy.
