T20 World Cup 2026: ICC announces list of match officials, umpires for IND vs PAK Match

January 30, 2026: The ICC has confirmed the list of match officials for the group stage of the upcoming T20 World Cup, which will start on February 7. A total of 24 officials will serve as on-field umpires, while six others will act as match referees during the group stage from February 7 to February 20.

For the historic India vs Pakistan match, Richard Illingworth and Kumar Dharmasena, both experienced umpires, have been appointed as the on-field officials.

The officials for the Super Eight round and the knockouts will be announced later. For the opening game between Pakistan and the Netherlands at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, Kumar Dharmasena and Wayne Knights will be the on-field umpires. This will be the first T20 World Cup match for Knights, while Dharmasena is a veteran in umpiring major events.

Dharmasena has already officiated in 37 T20 World Cup matches, including the finals in 2016 and 2022. For Knights, the PAK vs NED match will be his 50th T20I as an on-field umpire.

Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker to umpire the India vs USA match

The India vs USA match on the opening day of the T20 World Cup 2026 will begin at 7 PM at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Paul Reiffel and Rod Tucker have been appointed as the on-field umpires for this game.

West Indies vs Scotland umpires for the opening match

The opening match of the tournament will see West Indies take on Scotland at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata from 3 PM IST. The on-field umpires for this match are Nitin Menon and Sam Nogajski. Menon is the more experienced of the two, having officiated the first semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2024. Nogajski officiated four matches in the 2024 World Cup, including the India vs USA match.
