Udaipur, Oct 10, 2025: Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his seventh Test century in just two years, reaching 100 off 145 balls on the first day of the second Test against the West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After lunch, he increased his scoring rate and went on to reach 150 runs, becoming the second Indian after Virat Kohli to achieve this on the first day of a Test. Opening the innings, Jaiswal held firm after KL Rahul departed early. He was supported by Sai Sudarshan and later by captain Shubman Gill, guiding India to a strong position.

Yashasvi Jaiswal reached 150 runs in just 224 balls, hitting 19 fours in his innings. He did not hit a six until he reached 150. This is the second time Jaiswal has scored more than 150 runs on the first day of a Test in India. Earlier, in 2024 against England in Visakhapatnam, he scored 179 runs on the first day.
Comparison with Virat Kohli
Only Virat Kohli had previously scored more than 150 runs on the first day of a Test in India. Kohli made 151 against England in Visakhapatnam in 2016 and 156 against Sri Lanka in Delhi in 2017. Jaiswal scored more runs, but he opens the innings, while Kohli often bats at number four.

Despite strong performances in the IPL and England tour, Jaiswal was left out of the Asia Cup 2025 squad. He was also excluded from the upcoming T20 series against Australia, which surprised many fans.
