India’s Clean Sweep at Asian Lacrosse Games
India wins titles in both Men and Women categories; the Men's team defeated Iraq in the final while the women overpowered Pakistan
Udaipur, Feb 7, 2026 - At the Asian Lacrosse Games 2025-26 held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, India achieved the distinction of winning both the Men’s and Women’s titles. Both teams from India delivered outstanding performances, with the men defeating Iraq in the final and the women overpowering Pakistan.
According to team manager Imran Lari, the victory was largely owing to the strategic planning of coach Neeraj Batra and technical official Shakeel Khan.
The Women’s final against Pakistan was a high-voltage contest. The Indian team dominated with an impressive 22–5 victory. Despite strong support for both sides, the match initially remained competitive. However, India’s pace, aggressive attack, solid defence, coordinated planning and excellent goalkeeping completely upset the Pakistani side.
For India, Jula Kumari Gurjar scored 8 goals, Jahnavi Rathore 6, Yashoda Gameti 3, Meera Dausa and Dali Gameti 2 each and Sunita Meena added 1. Captain Sunita Meena, the top scorer of the previous Asian Games, played a key role in planning attacks alongside Roshan Bose, providing crucial assists while also strengthening the defence with defender Khushboo. Goalkeepers Yashistha Batra and Mukan Kumari Gurjar were brilliant in their game, taking turns to block Pakistan’s attacks and maintaining a large goal difference.
Inspired by the Women’s team victory, the Men’s team started aggressively against Iraq. Injured main striker Mohanlal Gameti took on the role of chief game planner, drawing the attention of Iraq’s strong defenders. This allowed the Indian team to effectively use both wings and outplay their physically stronger opponents with quick passes.
Left-handed player Dayashankar Gameti scored 5 goals while Khumar Ram Gameti and Nishant Nagda scored 2 each. The team displayed excellent planning by defending collectively with Ashish Goyat. Goalkeeper Narayan Lal Gameti once again delivered an outstanding performance, helping India secure a 9-3 victory.
Chef de Mission Saurabh Vetal, Shahzad Khan, Rajpal Reddy, players, coaches and supporters celebrated the victory.
Lacrosse Federation of India president and Gorakhpur MP, actor Ravi Kishan Shukla, Chairman Bipoon Vijay, CEO Tausif Lari, Secretary General Nabij Alam, Rajasthan Lacrosse Association president Ashok Parnami, Rajasthan Sports Council president Neeraj K Pawan, Udaipur MP Dr Manna Lal Rawat, MLA Phool Singh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, Tribal Development Commissioner Kanhaiyalal Swami, Collector Namit Mehta, UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain and Kashti Foundation’s Shraddha Murdiya congratulated the teams through social media and other channels.
