India Scripts History with Gold in Men’s Compound Archery Event

India defeats France 235–233 in a nail-biting final to win first gold in Men’s Compound team event at the World Archery Championships

Sept 8, 2025 - In a historic achievement, the Indian men’s Compound Archery team clinched their first-ever gold medal at the World Archery Championships on September 7 by defeating France in the final held in Guangzhou, China.

In the Mixed Team event, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Rishabh Yadav narrowly missed the top podium, settling for silver after a close 155–157 loss to The Netherlands in the final.

However, 23-year-old Rishabh Yadav made a strong comeback in the Men’s Team event, teaming up with Aman Saini and Prathamesh Fuge to lead India to a thrilling 235–233 victory over France in the gold medal match.

After three sets, the score was tied at 176–176, but the second-seeded Indian team held their nerve in the decisive round, scoring a superb 59 against France’s 57, sealing the historic gold for India.
