February 6. 2026:  India Under-19 lifted their sixth World Cup title after a dominant 100-run win over England in the final at Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe. The team, led by Ayush Mhatre, remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and produced another strong performance on the biggest stage. England had entered the final with confidence after beating Australia in the semi-final, but India proved too strong.

The Men in Blues got off to a powerful start, thanks to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who played an unforgettable knock. The 14-year-old silenced his critics by attacking the England bowlers from the start. He smashed 175 runs from only 80 balls and gave India early control of the match.

Skipper Ayush Mhatre supported the innings with a steady 53 off 51 balls. After his wicket, India slowed down for a short time, but the scoring never stopped because of the strong opening stand. The lower middle order played with freedom and added quick runs. Abhigyan Kundu continued his fine form in the tournament and scored 40 runs. Kanishk Chouhan finished the innings with an unbeaten 37 from 20 balls. Their contributions helped India put up a massive total of 411, which England could not chase.

England’s Chase Falls Short in High-Scoring Final

England’s run chase never fully settled after being set a huge target of 412 runs. They began poorly, facing two maiden overs at the start. After that, Ben Dawkins and Ben Mayes tried to rebuild and bring England back into the game, but the target was always very difficult.

Chasing such a big total put constant pressure on the batters. Captain Thomas Rew, who had scored a century against Australia in the semi-final, managed 35 runs but could not stay long at the crease.

Falconer Fights Alone For Three Lions

Caleb Falconer played a brilliant knock and kept England’s hopes alive. He scored an impressive 115 runs from just 67 balls and showed great confidence. The young batter fought till the end, but the lack of support from the other end made the task impossible.

If England had received a strong partnership, the gap might have been reduced. However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals. Still, the final was exciting, with both teams scoring a combined 722 runs.

After India’s historic win, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team on social media. He praised their performance and said the victory would inspire young cricketers across the country.
