India vs England Lord’s Test Set for Thrilling Final Day

Day 5 of India versus England third Test match will test India's nerves on a crumbling pitch at Lord’s
 |

July 14, 2025 - The last day at Lord's will be a big test for the Indian team. If Shubman Gill’s team scores 135 more runs in their second innings on the final day of the third Test in the five-match series, they will take a strong lead over England.

Although a target of 344 runs has been chased successfully at this ground before, doing it this time will not be easy. The pitch will be more difficult on this hot Monday, especially since it is the fifth day.

On the fourth day, bowlers started getting uneven bounce from the nursery end. This made batting harder, and 14 wickets fell on Sunday. England now needs only six more wickets to take the lead in the series, which is currently tied at 1-1. However, if KL Rahul (33 not out), who hit a century in the first innings, plays another big knock in the second innings, the match could turn in India’s favour.

A Real Test of Cricket

This match is at such a point that no one can say for sure who will win. But one thing is clear — this is real cricket. If India wins from here, then a new captain may rise who can lead the team for many years.

Along with Rahul, Rishabh Pant also has a big chance to become a hero again. On the other side, Ben Stokes and his team will try their best to stop them. No matter who wins or loses, this Test match will be remembered for a long time.

Indian Bowlers Stun England

Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep and Nitish Reddy made the English team struggle by taking four wickets in the first session of Day 4. In the second session, spinner Washington Sundar gave India a big boost by getting Joe Root and Jamie Smith out.

Jasprit Bumrah was unlucky, or else England’s second innings would have ended before reaching 192. Bowlers were getting more help from the Nursery End. Siraj bowled a brilliant spell, taking 2 wickets for just 11 runs in 7 overs.

From the other end, Bumrah troubled Jack Crowley again and again. Siraj changed his line and length and got Ollie Pope out — with help from a review.

Reddy and Akash Strike Again

Indian captain Shubman Gill gave the ball to Nitish Reddy instead of Bumrah. Reddy, who took two wickets in the first innings, dismissed Crowley again. Crowley tried to drive outside off-stump but Yashasvi Jaiswal took a sharp catch in the gully.

Harry Brook came with an aggressive mindset. He hit two ramp shots and a six over mid-off against Akash. But Akash stayed focused, bowled straight, and broke Brook’s middle stump when he missed a sweep shot.

England lost 4 wickets for just 87 runs in the first session. Later, Root and Stokes built a strong 67-run partnership for the fifth wicket. Bumrah, who didn’t get success early in the day, took two wickets in the evening.

If you didn’t watch the match, you might think Bumrah didn’t perform well. But if you saw his first spell, you would say "Wow!" He bowled good length deliveries from tough angles. The ball bounced, hit the bat’s handle, or went directly to the keeper. In his first spell, England played 11 wrong shots — 9 of them by Crowley.

Sundar Silences Critics

Some people questioned why Sundar was picked over Kuldeep Yadav. But Sundar proved his worth. He took four wickets — Root, Stokes, Smith, and Shoaib Bashir — and bowled all of them clean.

England lost their last four wickets for just 11 runs, giving India a strong chance to win the match.
