Ishan Kishan & Suryakumar Yadav Go on Rampage as India Hammer NZ in 2nd T20I

Ishan Kishan scored 76 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 82, helping India chase the target of 209 with 28 balls to spare.

January 24, 2026: Team India took a 2–0 lead in the five-match series against New Zealand with an emphatic 7-wicket win at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur on Friday.

Ishan Kishan scored 76 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten on 82. Their brilliant knocks helped India chase the target of 209 with 28 balls remaining. By finishing the chase so early, India created a new record. It is now the fastest successful chase of a 200-plus target in T20I cricket among full-member teams, based on balls remaining.

The earlier record was held by Pakistan, who chased 205 runs with 24 balls to spare in a T20I match in Auckland in 2025. India broke that record with their outstanding performance in Raipur and set a new benchmark.

India Thrash New Zealand to Take 2–0 Lead in T20I Series

India won the toss and chose to bowl first against New Zealand. The visitors opened with Devon Conway and Tim Seifert and added 43 runs for the first wicket. Harshit Rana broke the stand by dismissing Conway for 19 off 9 balls. Soon after, Varun Chakravarthy removed Seifert for 24 off 13 balls.

Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips then built a 55-run partnership for the third wicket. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Phillips for 19, while Rachin continued to score at the other end.

Shivam Dube removed Daryll Mitchell for 18 off 11 balls. Kuldeep struck again by dismissing Rachin for 44 off 26 balls, with Arshdeep Singh taking the catch.

Skipper Mitchell Santner played a strong late innings to boost New Zealand’s total. Hardik Pandya dismissed Mark Chapman for 10 off 13 balls. Santner stayed unbeaten on 47 off 27 balls, hitting six fours and one six. With Zakary Foulkes at the other end, New Zealand crossed the 200-run mark.

Kishan, Suryakumar Power India’s Chase

India began the chase of 209 runs with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma but lost both early. Samson was out to Matt Henry in the final ball of the first over, while Sharma was dismissed by Jacob Duffy for a golden duck in the next over.

Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav then rebuilt the innings with a solid partnership of 122 runs. Kishan scored a quick 76, hitting 11 fours and 4 sixes, before getting out to Ish Sodhi.

Suryakumar stayed till the end and scored an unbeaten 82 to guide India to victory with nearly five overs left. Shivam Dube supported him well and remained unbeaten on 36 off 18 balls.
