IND vs WI: John Campbell Smashes to a Special Milestone in 50th Test Innings
John Campbell not only scored a century in the second innings of the Delhi Test, but he also became the first West Indian opener to score a century in India in the last 23 years!
Udaipur, Oct 13, 2025: West Indies opener John Campbell scored a century in the second innings of the Delhi Test against India. He reached his century off 173 balls, hitting nine fours and three sixes. Campbell completed his century with a six, helping West Indies stay competitive in the match.
Campbell was dismissed for 10 runs in the first innings but batted brilliantly in the second innings to score his first Test century. With this, he also became the first West Indian opener to score a century in India in the last 23 years.
It took Campbell a long time to achieve this milestone. He waited six years, 25 Tests, and 50 innings for his first century. During this period, he passed fifty three times but never converted it into a century. In his second Test in India, he made no mistakes. Earlier, he played a Test against Afghanistan in Lucknow in 2019, where his highest score was 55. Before this century, Campbell’s best score in Test cricket was 68.
Major Partnership - Campbell and Hope
John Campbell not only scored a century in the second innings of the Delhi Test, but he also formed an important partnership with Shai Hope. This partnership was for the third wicket. Campbell and Hope added 177 runs from 295 balls. Because of this big partnership, West Indies look like they are avoiding the threat of an innings defeat.
John Campbell Scores 115 Runs
John Campbell scored 115 runs from 199 balls before he was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja. His wicket was the third for India in the innings. This was Campbell’s first century in Test cricket, but his second century overall in international cricket. He had earlier scored a century against Scotland in ODIs.
