July 26, 2026: Team India bounced back in style after their disappointing T20I series defeat against England and Ireland, securing the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe with a dominant 90-run victory in the second match at Harare. Led by Shreyas Iyer, India delivered an impressive all-round performance as the batters set up a massive total before the bowlers comfortably wrapped up Zimbabwe's innings.
With the win, India took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series, giving captain Shreyas Iyer his first T20I series victory as India's skipper.
VVS Laxman continued as the team's head coach for the Zimbabwe tour in the absence of Gautam Gambhir. The management also continued to give opportunities to young players without making too many changes to the playing XI. Fast bowler Yash Thakur made his international debut in place of Ashok Sharma.
Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza won the toss and elected to bowl first. India started aggressively, but the opening partnership did not last long. Vaibhav Suryavanshi played a quick cameo of 20 runs from just nine deliveries before being dismissed. Abhishek Sharma also failed to make an impact, scoring only eight runs.
Captain Shreyas Iyer looked comfortable during his stay at the crease and scored 25 runs, but he could not convert his start into a big innings.

Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma Power India Before Bowlers Seal Comfortable Win
The innings was then taken forward brilliantly by Ishan Kishan, who once again continued his outstanding form in T20 internationals. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter played a superb knock of 81 runs from just 44 balls, smashing nine fours and two sixes. He dominated the Zimbabwe bowling attack and kept the scoreboard moving throughout his stay.
Tilak Varma provided the perfect support and finished the innings in spectacular fashion. Batting with complete freedom, he remained unbeaten on 60 off only 29 deliveries. His entertaining innings included five boundaries and three sixes, helping India post a commanding total of 219/5 in their 20 overs.
Zimbabwe's bowlers struggled throughout the innings, with Blessing Muzarabani being one of the few bowlers to keep things under control despite India's aggressive batting display.
Chasing 220, Zimbabwe needed a strong start but failed to build any meaningful partnerships. Brian Bennett fought hard early in the innings, scoring 32 runs from 19 balls, but he received little support from the other batters.
Once Bennett departed, the Indian bowlers tightened their grip on the match. The young bowling attack looked disciplined despite its lack of experience.
Debutant Yash Thakur impressed with two wickets, while Prince Yadav also claimed two wickets to put Zimbabwe under pressure. Captain Sikandar Raza was dismissed without opening his account, dealing another major blow to the hosts.
Wesley Madhevere managed to score 24 runs, but Zimbabwe's batting lineup never looked capable of chasing the massive target. Towards the end, Abhishek Sharma also made an impact with the ball, picking up three wickets to complete an excellent all-round performance.
Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for just 129 runs, handing India a comprehensive 90-run victory.
The emphatic win not only sealed the series for India but also provided a timely boost after the disappointment of losing the T20I series in England and Ireland. More importantly, it marked Shreyas Iyer's maiden T20I series triumph as India's captain and highlighted the impressive performances of several young players during the tour.
