Asia Lacrosse Championship Indian Team

India's senior women's Lacrosse team showcased a remarkable performance, securing the silver medal in the tournament held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. In the final match on June 4,2024, India narrowly lost 9-11 to Saudi Arabia, despite a valiant effort.

Jhoola Kumari Gurjar and Vishakha Meghwal emerged as standout performers for India, each scoring three goals, supported by captain Sunita Meena with two goals and Dali Gameti contributing one. Goalkeeper Deepika Bamnia's exceptional skills were crucial in keeping India competitive throughout the tournament.

The team, led by coaches Neeraj Batra and Shakeel Khan, and managed by Dr. Gangadharya and assistant manager Salim Khan, received accolades for their spirited display. Sunita Meena, India's captain, stood out as the tournament's top scorer with an impressive tally of 22 goals.

The Indian contingent was honored by Chris Jinno, Chairman of the Asia Pacific Lacrosse Federation, from Japan, underscoring their achievement on the international stage. Following their stellar performance, the team has secured a berth in the upcoming Asia Pacific Championship in Australia, an important step towards qualifying for the World Cup.

Congratulations poured in from various dignitaries, including Tauseef Ahmed Lari, Secretary General of the Lacrosse Federation of India, Rajasthan's Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and other officials, recognizing the historic achievement of the Indian team.
