Udaipur: Oct 1, 2025: The Indian women's cricket team beat Sri Lanka by 59 runs in the first match of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025. India, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, started their World Cup with a win. Batting first in a rain-shortened 47-over match, India scored 269 for 8.

Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu and Hasini Perera opened the innings. They made a 30-run partnership for the first wicket. India took the first wicket when Hasini Perera was clean bowled by Kranti Goud for 14 runs.

Sri Lanka’s captain Chamari Athapaththu was the top scorer, making 43 runs off 47 balls with four fours and three sixes. Nilekshika Silva scored 35 and 29 runs. For India, Deepti Sharma took three wickets, while Sneha Rana and Sri Charani took two wickets each. Deepti Sharma was named Player of the Match.

Earlier, Pratika Rawal scored 37 runs off 59 balls with three fours and one six. Harleen Deol made 48 runs off 64 balls with six fours. Amanjot Kaur scored 57 runs in 56 balls with five fours and one six, while Deepti Sharma made 53 runs in 53 balls with three fours. Off-spinner Sneha Rana added 28 runs, helping India reach 269. For Sri Lanka, Inoka Ranaweera took 4 wickets, and Udeshika Prabodhani took 2 wickets.
