Harmanpreet Kaur Equals Mithali Raj’s Historic Record for India in T20Is

Udaipur, Dec 31, 2025: India completed a clinical whitewash of Sri Lanka on Tuesday with a 15-run win in the fifth and final T20I of the series. The 5-0 series win helped India end the year on a high note.

India captain Harmanpreet Kaur was named Player of the Match in the final game. It was her 12th Player of the Match award in T20Is. With this, she equalled former India captain Mithali Raj, who also won 12 such awards during her career.

Harmanpreet deserved the award for her strong performance in the final match. India were in trouble after a poor start in the absence of Smriti Mandhana. Batting at number four, Harmanpreet scored 68 runs off 43 balls. Her knock included nine fours and one six.

She also led the team well on the field as both teams played the closest match of the series.

Harmanpreet Kaur Reflects on a Successful 2025

After the match, India captain Harmanpreet Kaur spoke about the team’s strong performance in 2025. She said the year was special, as India won the ODI World Cup at home for the first time.

Harmanpreet also said it was not easy to adjust to the T20 format after playing 23 ODI matches during the year. However, she praised the team for believing in themselves and sticking to good habits.

She said the team stayed positive when the coach spoke about strike rates and raising standards. Harmanpreet added that everyone came together with the same goal and wanted to set a new benchmark.

Looking ahead, she said the team will take confidence from this series and try to repeat the same performance in the future.
