March 27, 2026: Indian football faced another embarrassing situation on Thursday in Kochi. At the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, head coach Khalid Jamil and some players were not allowed to enter the stadium.

This happened before India’s AFC Asian Cup qualifier match against Hong Kong. Because of this issue, the pre-match press conference had to be cancelled.

Fans were very upset and called this incident a “national disgrace.” Many people on social media said this shows poor management in Indian football. Some fans said that football is a big sport around the world, but India is still struggling with basic organization.

Many supporters also said the situation was disrespectful. Some even said that such incidents are becoming common in Indian football.

Kerala fans, who are known for their love of football, reacted strongly. Many said they felt ashamed and hurt. They said the country and its fans deserve better treatment.

Payment Issue Behind the Problem

Reports say the issue happened because of a payment dispute. The Greater Cochin Development Authority (GCDA) asked for a security deposit of Rs 20–25 lakh and Rs 3 lakh as rent. They did not allow entry until full payment was made. The Kerala Football Association (KFA) asked for more time, but entry was still denied.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) later released a statement. They said the match will happen as planned and they are working with KFA to solve the issue. They also said they believe everything will be ready on time.

India is already out of qualification for the AFC Asian Cup 2027. The match against Hong Kong will now be used as preparation for the future.
