Indian women's team won the bronze medal at the 7th Asian Women's Club League Handball Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Golden Eagles Bharat Club defeated Uzbekistan's Uzbechka HC Club in a shootout, 3-2, to claim the bronze.
Playing at the Dostyk Universal Sports Complex, captain Menica Thakur's decisive penalty ensured a shootout victory for India's team over Uzbechka HC to secure a tense third-place playoff.
Under the leadership of Priyanka and Menica, the Indian team managed to even the score at 11-11 by halftime after initially falling behind. Priyanka's late goal in the second half led to a penalty shootout, during which Menica's crucial shot secured a 3-2 victory after a 22-22 draw in regular time.
An Indian team has now achieved a top-three finish in this renowned competition for the second year in a row.
