Jaipur City witnessed the Grand Opening Ceremony of Jaipur Sports League, a multi-disciplinary inter-school competition at the sprawling Rajasthan University Sports Complex on 5 November 2014. The event sponsor is Wonder Cement.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Mr. Vivek Patni expressed the hope that Indian sports could attain international standard in five years through concerted efforts by parents, different sports associations and corporate bodies on a sustained basis.

Mr. Patni said that the examples of abhinav Bindra and Sania Mirza would definitely boost the morale of the young participants to attain greater success.

Mr. Patni and other senior members of Wonder Cement were enthralled at the sight of 15,000 competitors drawn from 150 schools in Jaipur city at the 12-day sports fiesta being sponsored by Wonder Cement and hosted by Jaipur Sports League.

Mr. Ravindra Mohnot, Advisor, R K Group, speaking on the occasion, emphasized the need for a balance between studies and physical activities for all round growth of the children. He reminded the participants that sports were as much important as studies and both are complementary to each other for mental and physical development.

Jaipur Sports League Founder, Mr. Abhishek Tiwari, said that his endeavor was to prepare participants at the grassroots so that they can eventually compete at the international events.

This is the first time in the history of Jaipur that a league was being organized in 20 different disciplines with such huge participation. The league has announced a cash prize of Rs. 8 Lakhs for the winners in different categories.
