Inter-University Rugby 2026: MLSU Women Team Secures 4th Place
All India Inter-University Rugby (Women) Championship was organised by Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, from April 2 to April 6
Udaipur, April 9, 2026 - The Women’s rugby team of Mohanlal Sukhadia University (MLSU) secured fourth place in the All India Inter-University Rugby (Women) Championship. The championship was organised by Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, from April 2 to April 6, 2026.
According to University Sports Board Secretary Dr Bheemraj Patel, the team received a walkover in their first match against Nirwan University. In their second match, they defeated Pondicherry University by 15–5. In the third match, they secured a 15–7 victory against University of Lucknow. In the quarterfinals, they defeated Lovely Professional University by 12–0.
Based on the results of subsequent matches, the team finished in fourth place overall.
University Sports Board president Prof. Shoorveer Singh Bhanawat congratulated all players, team manager Sonali Shrimali and coaches Prafull Shrimali and Gagan Patel for their achievement. He also announced that on August 29, 2026 (National Sports Day), all players, coaches and the manager will be felicitated with cash awards by the Board.
