Inter-school Chess Tournament ends, Anthony’s Bags 3 Trophies
St. Paul’s school grabbed the first position in sub junior category (class 1-4) while the host, St. Anthony’s School bagged first position in junior category (class 5-8) and senior category (class 9-12) in an Inter School Chess Tournament hosted at St Anthony’s campus located at Goverdhan Vilas, Udaipur.
St. Paul’s school grabbed the first position in sub junior category (class 1-4) while the host, St. Anthony’s School bagged first position in junior category (class 5-8) and senior category (class 9-12) in an Inter School Chess Tournament hosted at St Anthony’s campus located at Goverdhan Vilas, Udaipur.
The closing ceremony of the event consisted of prize distribution for all the winner teams and individual players. Winning teams got a cash prize of Rs.1100 and Rs 800 with a trophy for the first and second positions respectively while a trophy was awarded to the team that remained on the third position.
In individual prizes for all the categories winners were given a cash prize of Rs.500 and Rs. 250 respectively for I and II position with a trophy.
After four rounds of matches played today on the second day of the event, the final results remained as follows:

First Position– St. Paul (19 points)
Second Position – St. Anthony (15 points)
Third Position – Alok School (14.5 points)
Junior Category (Class V to VIII)
First Position (Class V to VIII) – St. Anthony (17.5 points)
Second Position – M.M.P.S (16.5 points)
Third Position – Sunbeam School (15 points)
Senior Category (Class IX to XII)
First Position– St. Anthony (86.5 points) (Tie between St. Anthony and Central Academy was sorted out with Buchholz).

Vikas Sahu, the Organizing Secretary of the championship informed that the event was conducted smoothly and thanked school management for their support.
Rajendra Teli, well-known FIDE rated Player, FIDE Arbitar and National Chess Trainer was the Chief Guest of the event while the special guests were Rita Fernandez and Selibia D’Souza. The event was led by Albin D’Souza, Director of School. Vote of thanks was extended by William D’Souza, Principal of the host school.
The students were escorted by teachers and some also came with their parents for the event. Shubham Sharma, a student of St. Anthony did a Mime in the closing ceremony which was appreciated by all.
