IPL 2026: Samson and Noor shine as CSK secure dominant 32-run win over KKR in Chennai

April 15, 2026: Chennai Super Kings produced a strong performance to defeat Kolkata Knight Riders by 32 runs in an IPL 2026 match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both teams came into the game looking to improve their form, and CSK managed to take advantage of the opportunity. This win also gave CSK their second straight victory of the season, showing signs of a comeback, although there is still room for improvement in their overall performance.

This was CSK’s first back-to-back wins since IPL 2024. On the other hand, KKR are still searching for their first win of the season, having lost four out of five matches, with one game ending in a washout. CSK’s total of 192 was also the lowest score successfully defended this season.

KKR won the toss and chose to bowl first. CSK lost an early wicket as Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 7 runs and was dismissed in the third over by Anukul Roy. After that, Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre played attacking cricket and added quick runs. Mhatre scored 38 runs off 17 balls before getting out on the last ball of the powerplay. CSK reached 72 for 2 after 6 overs.

Samson continued to bat well and scored 48 runs off 32 balls but missed his half-century by just 2 runs after getting out to Kartik Tyagi. Sarfaraz Khan and Dewald Brevis then added a fast 50-run partnership. Sarfaraz scored 23 runs before getting out to Sunil Narine, while Brevis made 41 runs before being dismissed by Tyagi. In the final overs, Shivam Dube (13*) and Jamie Overton (7*) added 21 runs, helping CSK finish at 192 for 5 in 20 overs.

In reply, CSK started well with the ball as Anshul Kamboj dismissed Finn Allen for 1 run in the second over. Sunil Narine scored 24 runs and got a chance after a dropped catch but could not make it big and was out to Khaleel Ahmed. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 50 runs to steady the innings. Raghuvanshi scored 27 runs before getting out to Akeal Hosein.
The match changed quickly when Noor Ahmad took two wickets in two balls, dismissing Ajinkya Rahane (28) and Cameron Green (0). Rinku Singh also got out for 6 runs, leaving KKR at 90 for 6. Ramandeep Singh (35) and Rovman Powell (31*) added 63 runs, but it was not enough. KKR finished at 160 for 7, and CSK won the match by 32 runs.
