April 26, 2026: Gujarat Titans delivered a commanding all-round performance to defeat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in the 37th match of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, on Sunday. A disciplined bowling effort kept CSK to a below-par total, before Sai Sudharsan’s brilliant knock ensured a smooth chase.

Put in to bat first, Chennai Super Kings never found momentum against a highly disciplined Gujarat Titans attack. Kagiso Rabada led the charge with a superb spell of 3/25, striking early to remove Sanju Samson and Urvil Patel in the same over and immediately putting CSK under pressure. Mohammed Siraj and Manav Suthar supported well, striking at key moments as wickets kept falling.

CSK’s innings unravelled quickly, with Sarfaraz Khanβ€”brought in as an impact substitute as early as the fourth overβ€”falling on his very first delivery, edging Siraj behind the wicket. Dewald Brevis also failed to make an impact, miscuing a shot to cover off Suthar. At 37/4 after 8.2 overs, CSK were in deep trouble and forced into rebuilding mode.

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad stood tall amid the collapse, anchoring the innings with patience and control. Shivam Dube added a brief 22 off 17 balls, but CSK struggled to form partnerships. Gaikwad gradually accelerated and remained unbeaten on 74 off 60 balls, guiding CSK to 158/7 in 20 overs with a late push that gave the total some respectability.

Sudharsan powers GT home with ease

Chasing 159, Gujarat Titans began confidently with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan putting together a fluent 58-run opening stand inside the powerplay. Gill looked in fine touch before falling for 33 off 23 balls to Noor Ahmad, but the platform had already been set.

Sai Sudharsan, continuing his rich form after a recent century, produced a classy and controlled 87 off 46 balls. He adjusted brilliantly to the conditions, mixing caution with aggression and targeting loose deliveries with precision. His innings, laced with seven sixes, completely shifted the game in GT’s favour and took the chase out of CSK’s reach.

Jos Buttler provided the finishing touch with an unbeaten 39 off 30 balls as Gujarat Titans comfortably reached 162/2 in 16.4 overs, sealing victory with 20 balls to spare.
