May 26, 2026: The league stage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 officially concluded with Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad, and Rajasthan Royals securing the four playoff spots. RCB finished at the top of the table with 18 points and the best net run rate of +0.783, while Gujarat Titans also ended on 18 points but settled for second place because of an inferior net run rate. Sunrisers Hyderabad claimed third position with 18 points, and Rajasthan Royals booked the final playoff berth with 16 points.

Punjab Kings narrowly missed qualification after finishing fifth with 15 points. Delhi Capitals ended sixth with 14 points, followed by Kolkata Knight Riders in seventh and Chennai Super Kings in eighth place. Mumbai Indians and Lucknow Super Giants endured disappointing campaigns and finished at the bottom of the table with just eight points each.

RCB and GT Earn Crucial Playoff Advantage

As the top two teams in the standings, RCB and GT will enjoy a major advantage in the playoffs. The two sides will face each other in Qualifier 1 on May 26 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The winner of that match will directly qualify for the IPL 2026 final, while the losing side will still get another opportunity through Qualifier 2.

Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals will clash in the Eliminator on May 27 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Stadium in Mullanpur. Unlike Qualifier 1, the Eliminator offers no second chances, with the losing team getting knocked out immediately. The winner will move on to Qualifier 2 to face the loser of RCB vs GT.

Qualifier 2 will take place on May 29 in Mullanpur, while the IPL 2026 final is scheduled for May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB and GT now have the most direct path to the title, needing just one win to reach the final. On the other hand, SRH and RR must survive two knockout matches to lift the trophy.
