Rajasthan Royals Dominate Chennai Super Kings with Eight-Wicket Win in IPL 2026
Rajasthan Royals beat Chennai Super Kings by 8 wickets in IPL 2026, with strong bowling and a quick, controlled chase.
Guwahati, March 30: Rajasthan Royals (RR) recorded a dominant win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by eight wickets in their IPL 2026 encounter at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati. RR displayed a strong all-round performance, with both their bowlers and batters executing plans perfectly. The Royals restricted CSK to a modest total through disciplined bowling and then chased it down comfortably, with their batters staying in control throughout the innings. Nandre Burger’s brilliant bowling earned him the Man of the Match award, as he played a key role in restricting CSK’s scoring.
CSK struggles with the bat
CSK batted first but struggled throughout the innings. The top order failed to provide a solid start, with Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad dismissed cheaply and Ayush Mhatre out for a duck. Early wickets put the team under pressure, and the middle order had to fight to keep CSK in the game. Sarfaraz Khan made 17 runs, while Kartik Sharma added 18. Jamie Overton led the resistance with a composed 43 runs, showcasing patience and timing, but even his effort could not help the team reach a competitive total. CSK were eventually bowled out for 127 in 19.4 overs, highlighting a disappointing outing for the yellow army’s batting line-up.
The Rajasthan Royals’ bowling unit was exceptional from the start. Jofra Archer and Nandre Burger each claimed two wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja, facing his former franchise, also picked up two key wickets. Sandeep Sharma and Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with a wicket each, maintaining constant pressure on the CSK batters. The bowlers’ discipline ensured that CSK never built partnerships or accelerated their scoring, keeping the total well below par for a competitive IPL match.

RR chase the target comfortably
In reply, Rajasthan Royals chased the target with ease, finishing at 128 for 2 in just 12.1 overs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi played a sensational innings, scoring 52 runs off only 17 balls, setting the tone for the chase with his aggressive strokeplay. Yashasvi Jaiswal remained unbeaten on 38, combining well with Dhruv Jurel, who added 18 runs. Captain Riyan Parag guided the chase smartly, staying not out on 14 to ensure a calm finish. The Royals never let CSK back into the game, completing the chase with 47 balls to spare and dominating the match from start to finish.
This win provides Rajasthan Royals an early boost in the tournament, showing their strength in both batting and bowling departments. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will need to reflect on their batting failures, especially in the top order, if they hope to recover in the coming matches. The match once again emphasized the importance of strong starts and building partnerships, both of which CSK lacked, while RR capitalized on every opportunity to secure a convincing victory.
