Will MI Part Ways with Arjun Tendulkar?
Mumbai, Nov 13, 2025: There is a big surprise in the IPL transfer market. The Mumbai Indians are likely to release Arjun Tendulkar. However, Sachin’s son will still get a team this time. He is expected to move from Mumbai to Sanjiv Goenka’s Lucknow Super Giants. On the other hand, Mumbai may bring in Shardul Thakur from Lucknow.
Arjun Tendulkar has been with Mumbai for a long time and has played five IPL matches. His performance in domestic cricket has not been very good, and no other franchise has shown much interest in him. Still, Mumbai kept the left-arm pacer in their squad every season. The main reason is the brand value he brings as Sachin Tendulkar’s son, more than his cricketing contribution.
However, this time, the five-time champions seem to have lost patience with Arjun and are likely to move on from him.
R Ashwin’s Big Revelation
Ravichandran Ashwin has made a big revelation. On his YouTube channel, he said that the Mumbai Indians (MI) have traded for Shardul Thakur from the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). This news quickly spread on social media, as earlier reports had already mentioned trade talks between the two teams.
Arjun Tendulkar to Leave MI?
According to a Cricbuzz report, a trade deal between MI and LSG is almost done. Under this deal, Arjun Tendulkar will move to Lucknow, while Shardul Thakur will join Mumbai.
Both moves will be recorded as separate cash transfers, but they are part of the same trade arrangement. The BCCI has not made an official announcement yet, but reports from Mumbai cricket circles suggest both transfers are nearly final. The official confirmation is expected on November 15, when the BCCI releases the IPL retention and release list.
Details of the Trade
Shardul Thakur, the captain of Mumbai’s domestic team, was signed by Lucknow for ₹2 crore before last season. He took 13 wickets in 10 matches and scored 18 runs.
Meanwhile, Arjun Tendulkar was bought by Mumbai Indians for his base price of ₹20 lakh. He has played 5 IPL matches, taking 3 wickets and scoring 13 runs, but did not play last season.
Why MI Wants Shardul
Mumbai Indians now urgently want Shardul Thakur in their team. The franchise plans to change its bowling attack completely. However, they currently lack enough funds to pay ₹2 crore for Shardul. To manage this, Mumbai may sell Arjun Tendulkar to Lucknow along with some cash.
Reports say the Sanjiv Goenka-owned Lucknow franchise has no objection to this deal.
Other Transfer News
If everything goes well, Shardul Thakur will play for Mumbai Indians next season, and Arjun Tendulkar will represent Lucknow Super Giants. Both players will move through cash-based deals.
In another big update, KKR spinner Mayank Markande is also on Mumbai’s radar. The MI management has already contacted the Kolkata Knight Riders about him.
