Trade Talks Between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings

Mumbai, Nov 10, 2025: All franchises have started their preparations for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The mini-auction for IPL 2026 will be held in December. Before that, teams will decide which players to retain or release. They will also try to strengthen their squads through trades. The retention deadline is November 15.

Trade Talks Between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings

Big news is coming about an IPL 2026 trade. Trade talks are going on between Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. CSK wants Sanju Samson in their team, while Rajasthan is asking for two CSK players in exchange for Sanju.

Rajasthan is planning a two-for-one trade before IPL 2026 starts. Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are seriously discussing this deal. Active negotiations are still ongoing.

What’s Holding Up the Rajasthan-Chennai Trade?

According to a Cricbuzz report, Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson are both valued at ₹18 crore (about $1.8 billion). This trade should be simple, but Rajasthan Royals are not agreeing yet. Rajasthan wants another CSK player included along with Jadeja. This demand could delay the deal. Chennai Super Kings are asking for Dwayne Brevis, a South African player who joined CSK midway last season. He is known for his powerful batting and can challenge any bowler.

Other Trade Talks and Retention Deadline

Rajasthan Royals have also contacted other teams, including Sunrisers Hyderabad, Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders. RR’s UK-based lead owner, Manoj Badale, is in Mumbai leading the negotiations. However, CSK is firm and does not want to include any other players, including Brevis.

Samson was retained by RR for ₹18 crore and was the captain in IPL 2025. With the IPL retention deadline on November 15, all eyes are on any big trades. Since July, reports have suggested that RR captain Samson could be traded to CSK or Delhi Capitals.

When asked by IANS about the chances of CSK trading for Samson, Viswanathan said, “No, not likely, not likely.” More clarity on the trade is expected in the next few days.
