Jasprit Bumrah Set to Miss IND vs USA T20 World Cup 2026 match

Jasprit Bumrah has been a match-winner for India many times. He can change the game with his performances. However, Bumrah might miss India’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener against the USA.

February 7, 2026:  India may miss their key fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in their T20 World Cup 2026 opener against the USA on Saturday, February 7.

The defending champions will play their first match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The USA, meanwhile, had reached the Super Eight stage in the previous edition of the tournament.

However, Bumrah might not be available for the opening game. As per reports, the star pacer has suffered from viral fever. He also skipped the training session on the eve of the match against the USA.

The match against the USA is expected to be one-sided, and because of this, the Indian team management does not want to take any risk with their lead fast bowler at the start of a long tournament. Bumrah did not bowl in the nets on Friday, which increased the chances of him being rested as a precaution.

Who can replace Jasprit Bumrah?

If Jasprit Bumrah does not play, India will have 13 fit players available. Washington Sundar is also returning from injury, which gives the team more options. In Bumrah’s absence, India can play Mohammed Siraj along with Arshdeep Singh. The team also has pace support from Hardik Pandya and Shivam Dube.

Mohammed Siraj has already joined the squad after replacing Harshit Rana, who was ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury. This makes Siraj a strong option if Bumrah is rested.

India’s schedule for the T20 World Cup 2026

India will begin their T20 World Cup 2026 campaign against the USA on February 7 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

After that, India will travel to Delhi to face Namibia on February 12 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

India are scheduled to play Pakistan on February 15 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. However, the match is currently uncertain after the Pakistan government refused to play the league-stage game.

Final league match before Super Eights

The Men in Blue will play their last league match against the Netherlands on February 18 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. If India qualify, they will move into the Super Eights, where they are seeded X1 and will be placed in Group 1.
