Jose Molina Sacked from Mohun Bagan as Club Bids Farewell and Announces New Head Coach

Udaipur, Nov 27, 2025: The Jose Molina era at Mohun Bagan has come to an end. The club announced on yesterday that the Spanish head coach has been removed from his position. Under Molina’s guidance, the green-and-maroon brigade lifted the IFA Shield just a month ago. He had previously led the club to both the ISL Cup and the ISL Shield. However, despite these achievements, Mohun Bagan decided to part ways with Molina amid the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the ISL. Sergio Lobera has been named as the new head coach.

The controversy regarding the future of the ISL continues, with significant confusion surrounding the country’s top league. Since Mohun Bagan’s exit from the Super Cup, the team’s training has been suspended for several days. In this situation, the management chose to release the coach who had delivered success to the club. The club posted on social media, “Mohun Bagan’s contract with Jose Molina has ended with the consent of both parties. We wish Molina the very best for the future.”

Within ten minutes of bidding farewell to Jose Molina, Mohun Bagan announced Sergio Lobera as their new head coach on social media. Lobera left Odisha FC on Wednesday afternoon. Odisha FC posted, “The relationship between Odisha FC and head coach Sergio Lobera has ended by mutual consent. The club thanks him for his contribution and wishes him the best for the future. We are waiting for clarity on the ISL. The name of the new coach will be announced accordingly.”

The Spanish coach joined Odisha FC in May 2023. Under his guidance, the team reached the final of the 2024 Super Cup, where they lost to East Bengal. Odisha finished fourth in the 2023–24 ISL season, but they slipped to seventh last season.
