Udaipur's Yug clinches Junior India Champion title at National Junior-Sub-Junior Swimming Competition

He has become the first Indian swimmer from the region to secure a championship title in swimming

Yug Chellani from Udaipur, Rajasthan, emerged as the Junior India Champion during the ongoing National Junior-Sub-Junior Swimming Competition in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. He secured an impressive five gold medals in various events. Mahesh Paliwal, the swimming instructor at Udaipur's Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon, mentioned that Yug clinched the gold medals in the final two events held on Sunday, solidifying his position as the India Junior Champion with an outstanding achievement of five gold medals.

According to Paliwal, this marks a historic moment for Rajasthan's swimming history, as Yug Chellani has become the first Indian swimmer from the region to secure a championship title in swimming. Vinod Sanadhya, the secretary of the Rajasthan Swimming Association, revealed that Yug's performance caused a stir, as he initially completed the 200-meter freestyle in a time of 01:55.02 and followed it up with a time of 02:09.91 in the 200-meter individual medley event.

During the concluding event, the swimmers, coaches, and administrative staff gathered at Udaipur's sports village swimming pool to witness the competitions of the session through a live telecast. When Yug secured his fifth gold medal, the entire group of swimmers erupted in cheers, and celebratory sweets were distributed to commemorate the achievement.

Lalit Singh Jhala, the Sports Officer in-charge, Sunita Bhandari, the District Sports Officer of Udaipur, Chandragupt Singh, President of the District Swimming Association, William D'Souza, Principal of St. Anthony's School, along with Khelgaon trainers Narpat Singh Chundawat, Reena Purohit, Jitendra Singh Bhati, and Akansha, were all present to celebrate this remarkable achievement. Congratulations poured in from Kanawat, Usha Acharaj, Shah Rukh Khan, Dashrat Singh, Harsh, Manoj Sanadhya, Mukesh Paliwal, Govind Sanadhya, and all the other coaches and staff members in recognition of this golden accomplishment.

Yug expressed that he dedicates these five medals to the swimming pool instructor at Khel Gaon, his mother Hema Chellani, and his father Jitendra Chellani. He also mentioned his commitment to upholding the reputation of Rajasthan by continuing to excel in the same manner.
