Junior Power Lifting: 7 Medals for Udaipur Strongmen

Day two of the 31st Junior Powerlifting and 21st Bench Press Championship at the Luv Kush stadium saw a 3 Gold win for Udaipur. Along with 3 Golds, Udaipur strong men captured 1 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in various weight categories, making it seven medals in all.

74 kgs (power lift)

Silver: Govind Prajapath, Udaipur (507.5 kg)

Bronze: Mohmmad Ishtiyak, Udaipur (437.5 kg)

83 kg (Power lift)

Gold: Ashish Oja, Bikaner (592.5 kg)

Silver: Pawan Kumawat, Jaipur (557.5 kg)

Bronze: Vijay Singh, Alwar (550 kg)

93 kgs (power lift)

Gold: Prakash chandra Saini, Jaipur (715 kg)

Silver: Govind Kiradu, Bikaner (480.5 kg)

Bronze: Pankaj Sahu, Udaipur( 455 kg)

74 kgs (Bench press)

Gold: Vijendra Sharma, Jaipur (135 kg)

Silver: Tilakraj Saini, Jaipur (125 kg)

Bronze: Naveen Sharma, Udaipur (120 kg)

83 kgs (Bench press)

Gold: Ram Chandra Sharma, Udaipur (145 kg)

Silver: Gajendra Saini, Jaipur (132.5 kg)

Bronze: Pawan Kumar, Jaipur (127.5 kg)

93 kgs (Bench press)

Gold: Mohammad Javed, Udaipur (192.5 kg)

Silver: Prakash Chandra Saini, Jaipur (190 kg)

Bronze: Govind Kiradu, Bikaner (115 kg)

105 kgs (Bench press)

Gold: Mukesh Kumar, Udaipur (142.5 kg)

Silver: Juggal Modi, Bikaner (135 kg)

Bronze: Prem Ranat, Bikaner (125 kg)

The final day of the event tomorrow, will heavy weights competing against each other in the 120 kg or more categories.

The Closing Ceremony and Prize distribution ceremony will be held at the stadium at 03:30 pm. The Chief Guest at the ceremony will be Mangi Lal Garasiya (Sports Minister), Rajni Dangi, Entrepreneur Anil Gupta, District Sports Officer Lalit Singh Jhala and other dignitaries.

At the end of this event, the winners will be selected for the Rajasthan team, in both the Power Lifting as well as bench press categories and they will represent the state at the National level tournaments to be held at Lucknow from February 1-5, 2012 and at Jabalpur from February 23-27, 2012.
