July 12, 2026: The football world knows Jose Mourinho as "The Special One." When Jürgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool, he introduced himself as "The Normal One." Now, the German Football Association (DFB) is hoping that the "Normal One" can bring German football back to normal—by making Germany one of the world's strongest teams again.

Klopp has been appointed as Germany's new head coach and is expected to remain in charge until 2030. The DFB has given him a long-term project with one clear objective: rebuild the national team and make Germany a serious contender for the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Before that, Germany will compete in the UEFA Nations League and the UEFA Euro Championship. Klopp's first challenge will be to guide the team to a strong performance in the Nations League. After that, his focus will shift to the European Championship. However, the biggest target remains winning the 2030 World Cup.

A New Era Begins After Nagelsmann's Exit

Julian Nagelsmann stepped down as Germany's head coach after taking responsibility for the team's disappointing World Cup campaign. The 38-year-old had taken charge of the national team in 2023.

Under Nagelsmann, Germany reached the quarter-finals of UEFA Euro 2024, where they were eliminated by Spain. The team had hoped to win a fifth FIFA World Cup title under his leadership, but those dreams ended in the knockout stage of the tournament.

Soon after Nagelsmann's resignation, the DFB opened talks with Klopp to become the next Germany coach. Following his departure from Liverpool in 2024, Klopp had not managed another club or national team. Now, he returns to coaching by taking charge of his country's national side, with the responsibility of leading Germany back to the top of world football.
