Kashmir United Lifts MKM Football Trophy

Kashmir United Football Club defeated Hindustan Zinc Eleven 2-1 in a thrilling finale played at the MKM Stadium in Jawar; 12 teams from across the country had participated in the tournament

Udaipur, January 28, 2025 – The 45th Mohan Kumarmangalam (MKM) Football Tournament being played at the MKM Stadium in Jawar, Rajasthan, concluded with a thrilling finale between Hindustan Zinc Eleven and Kashmir United Football Club. The latter won the game 2-1 to claim the trophy.

 The tournament was organised by Hindustan Zinc, in collaboration with the Jawar Mines Mazdoor Sangh.

This prestigious event saw 12 talented teams from across the country participating, each showcasing excellent football skills while representing their respective States. The final match was attended by Regional Football Association's Dilip Singh Shekhawat, District Football Association's Shakeel Ahmed, Superintendent of Police, Salumber, Rajesh Yadav, CEO of IBY Jawar Ram Murari, MKM Committee secretary Abhimanyu Singh Ranawat, MKM coordinator Deepak Gakhreja, Organising Committee secretary Lalu Ram Meena, Naga Ram Kharadi, Subrato Das and CT Premnath.

The Chief Guest was former Indian footballer Mohammad Akbar, who said, "I am truly overwhelmed by the passion for football I see in Udaipur. After Bengal, I haven’t seen such an enthusiastic crowd in years. It reminds me of my own playing days when the stands were always packed for every match. Jawar Stadium has really proved its excitement for the sport, and every spectator that attended is a testament to the immense popularity of football in this region. For organising such a large-scale tournament in rural Rajasthan, I commend Hindustan Zinc for providing a valuable platform to nurture grassroots football talent."

The tournament saw strong participants like Hindustan Zinc Eleven, Doon Star FC Dehradun, KMSWC Football Club Manipur, Kashmir United FC, DFA Udaipur, Ram Mohammad Singh Azad FC Punjab, YBFC Maharashtra, Akola Mumbai and RT Boys Club Hyderabad. The host team, Hindustan Zinc Eleven, displayed great skill in all their matches.

The Zinc Football Academy, managed by Hindustan Zinc, is one of the few academies in the country to have received the AIFF (All India Football Federation) Elite 3-star rating. The academy boasts top-class facilities and has been providing a platform for grassroot football talents since 2018. Hindustan Zinc plays a significant role in providing local youth with training and resources through the academy.

The MKM Tournament is a key event for the region, bringing teams from across India together to celebrate the sport and highlight Jawar's significant contribution to Indian football. Jawar has long been a major hub for sports in Rajasthan, producing skilled players and igniting a passion for the game.
