Udaipur's Kiyanna Wins Gold at Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025

Kiyanna Parihar won Gold in the Under-10 Girls Blitz category and Bronze in the Classical format at the tournament held in Kuala Lumpur

Udaipur, Nov 19, 2025 — Udaipur’s young chess prodigy and National Under-9 Girls Chess Champion, Kiyanna Parihar, delivered an outstanding performance at the Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025 held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, winning the gold medal in the Under-10 Girls Blitz category. The 10-year-old achieved a double victory by also winning a Bronze in the Classical format of the same competition.

The 10-day tournament was held from November 8 to 17 and featured 900 chess players from 30 countries competing across various age categories.

Jitendra Parihar, Kiyanna’s father who was also her first chess teacher when she was merely four years old, shared this information at a press meet in the city on Tuesday.

With this achievement, the young chess prodigy has now a total tally of 10 international medals. She has to her credit a Bronze medal which she won at the World Cadet Chess Championship 2025 (Under-10 category) held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, and a Bronze at the World Youth Blitz Chess Championship in Rhodes, Greece.

In the past few years, Kiyanna has been on a remarkable rise, delivering powerhouse performances across Asian and global platforms. Major career highlights include:

  • Asian Youth Chess Championship 2023 – 4 gold, 1 silver
  • Commonwealth Chess Championship 2025 – 1 gold, 1 bronze
  • FIDE World Cadet Chess Championship 2025 – Bronze medal
  • FIDE World Cadet & Youth Blitz Chess Championship 2025 – Bronze medal
  • FIDE World Cup 2024 – Ranked 9th
  • Asian Youth Chess Champion 2024 – 1 gold
  • 37th National Under-9 Girls Champion 2024 – Gold medal
  • National School Under-7 Girls Chess Championship 2022 – Silver medal
  • Rajasthan State Championship – 4 gold, 2 silver, 3 bronze medals
  • National double gold medalist in KUDO (martial arts)

Kiyanna credits her success to her parents Jitendra and Manisha Gehlot, coach Hemant Kumar and her school for their continued support.

Her relentless dedication and razor-sharp consistency have already established Kiyanna as one of India’s youngest and most exciting chess prodigies to watch out for. The talented player is confident of achieving the Grandmaster title in the coming years, showing the potential to even possibly becoming the youngest female Grandmaster.
