Kohli now holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores (62) in all recognised T20IS, including franchise leagues and international matches.
Udaipur, April 25, 2025: Virat Kohli is known as the 'Chase Master'. The former Indian captain is very good at chasing runs. However, Kohli has now set a new batting record, which was earlier held by Pakistan’s Babar Azam. Kohli now has the most 50+ scores while batting first in recognised T20IS — 62. Babar Azam has 61 and is now behind. On the same day as Kohli achieved this milestone, Royal Challengers Bangalore also won. Bengaluru defeated Rajasthan Royals by 11 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. This is Bengaluru’s first home win in this year’s IPL.
Bengaluru Finally Wins at Home
Bengaluru, who had lost their previous three home matches this season, batted first and scored 205 for 5. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli gave a strong start with a 61-run partnership. Then Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal added another 95 runs for the second wicket.
Kohli and Padikkal Shine
Both Kohli and Padikkal scored fifties. Padikkal made 50 runs off 27 balls, while Kohli scored 70 off 42 balls. Kohli reached his fifty in just 32 balls and set a new record.
Kohli Creates a New T20I Record
Kohli now holds the record for the most fifty-plus scores (62) in all recognised T20IS, including franchise leagues and international matches. Babar Azam is next with 61, followed by Chris Gayle (57), David Warner (55), and Jos Buttler (52).
Rajasthan Collapses in Final Overs
Rajasthan started strong in the run chase, thanks to Yashasvi Jaiswal’s quick 49 off 19 balls. Later, Dhruv Jurel tried to keep the momentum, scoring 47 off 34 balls. But he got out in the 19th over. Despite having 5 wickets in hand, Rajasthan needed just 18 runs in the last 12 balls. They managed only 6 runs and lost 4 wickets in the last two overs, handing the win to Bengaluru.
