Kolkata Knight Riders Pay Tribute To Bengali Actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee After Tragic Passing
Kolkata Knight Riders honoured Rahul Arunoday Banerjee with a heartfelt message after his sudden demise.
March 30, 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders paid a heartfelt tribute to Rahul Arunoday Banerjee after his tragic death. Banerjee was shooting for the TV show Bhole Baba Paar Karega when the incident happened. He sadly drowned during the shoot at Talsari in Digha, near the Odisha–West Bengal border.
KKR shared a message on social media, saying, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Rahul Arunoday Banerjee. Our thoughts are with his loved ones."
While filming at Talsari beach in Odisha, the 43-year-old actor was swept away by a strong wave. Even though lifeguards and crew members were present, the situation became serious very quickly. He got stuck in underwater debris, which made rescue difficult. He was taken to a nearby hospital in Digha, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. His death has raised concerns about safety during outdoor shoots, especially in risky places like beaches.

Actor’s Life and Career
Rahul Arunoday Banerjee was a well-known actor in Bengali films and TV. He became popular after his film Chirodini Tumi Je Amar. He married his co-star Priyanka Sarkar in 2010, and they have a son. The couple met in 2008 during the film shoot. They later separated but reportedly reunited in 2023.
He started acting at a young age in theatre and performed in many shows before moving to films. His film was directed by Raj Chakraborty. Some of his popular films include Zulfiqar, Byomkesh Gotro, and Biday Byomkesh. He also acted in TV shows like Hargouri Pice Hotel, Mohonna, and Desher Mati.
Many fans and celebrities shared their sadness online. Raj Chakraborty said he was shocked after hearing the news. Anjan Dutt also said he was too shaken to speak.
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, also expressed her grief. She said she was deeply saddened and that he was one of her favourite actors.
