A traditional wrestling competition known as kushti-dangal which is held in the memory of legendry wrestler Ustad Karan Singh Pahalwan was inaugurated today at 5 pm at Maharana Acharya Sanskrit College, Chandpol Bahar.

MP Raghuveer Singh Meena presided over the inaugural ceremony while Nilima Sukhadia, President District Congress committee was the Special Guest. The other dignitaries to grace the occasion were Prof. Divya Prabha Nagar, Vice-chancellor Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur and former MLA, Trilok Purbia.

The first match was played between National Level boxer Rakesh Atwal and Dharmveer which started after MP Raghuveer Singh Meena and Sports Minister Mangilal Garasiya entered the ring to shake their hands to formally announce the opening of the two days kushti dangal.

This match was conducted for the team Udaipur Kesari in 55kg category and the game ended in the favor of Rakesh Atwal who was declared winner by referee Kailash Paliwal, who is a renowned international level referee.

Nilima Sukhadia entered the ring to announce the formal opening of the matches under category 45 kg.

The tournament is conducted in three classes: Udaipur Kesari, Mewar Kesari and Mewar Kishore. In Mewar Kesari there are 29 teams in 65kg category and 19 teams in 55 kg while there are 58 teams in 65kg, 56 teams in 45kg and 15 teams in 35kg category in Mewar Kishore.

Till 10 pm all the matches of the first round of all the categories have been over. The second round will start at 6 am on Sunday which will be followed by semi final and final for all the categories on the same day.

The two days kushti dangal will have its closing ceremony tomorrow after the final match.
