Rajasthan wins both opening matches of Lacrosse Championship in Udaipur; beats Puducherry (10-1) and Uttarakhand
Udaipur, February 8, 2025 - The second Sub-Junior Boys, Girls and Senior Men and Women Lacrosse Championship opened yesterday, February 7, at Maharana Pratap Sports Complex, Udaipur. It is jointly organised by the Lacrosse Federation of India and the Rajasthan Lacrosse Association.
The league matches featured thrilling competitions. Neeraj Batra, secretary of the Udaipur Lacrosse Association, said that the opening match in the Men's category was between host Rajasthan and the previous runner-up Puducherry. Rajasthan put up an excellent performance and defeated Puducherry 10-1. The host team also won its second game against Uttarakhand securing a spot in the pre-quarter finals.
The outstanding players from the Rajasthan team were Mohan Lal Gameti, Khumar Ram Gameti, Dayashankar Gameti, Pranay Tripathi, Rajesh Gameti and Narayan Lal Gameti.
In the other league matches played yesterday, Chhattisgarh defeated Karnataka, Gujarat beat Odisha, Andhra Pradesh won against Madhya Pradesh, Haryana defeated Delhi, Maharashtra triumphed over Bihar, Kerala won against Uttar Pradesh, Haryana beat Assam, Chhattisgarh defeated Telangana and Uttarakhand beat Puducherry.
The Chief Guest at the inauguration was Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevalramani, with special guests Dr Ganga Dheria, vice-president of the Indian Lacrosse Federation, and Imran Lari. The ceremony was presided over by Ashok Parnami, president of the Rajasthan Lacrosse Association.
