Maharana Pratap Khel Gaon is Complete Without Basic AmenitiesThe under construction project of Khel Gaon at Chitrakoot Nagar is completed on papers.

UIT has accomplished all its tasks to transfer the stated property to District Sports Council; though the council denies taking charge of the sports complex, as there is no proper sanitation utilities and electricity.

In words of R.P. Sharma, Secretary, UIT, the trust has completed all the construction work on the land and is now willing to transfer the same to District Sports Council. The constructed portion includes preparation of various sports courts, namely Tennis, Basketball, Swimming Pool, Squash, Boxing, Volleyball and Archery, a separate space is developed for construction of International Cricket ground.

According to Dilip Singh Jhala, Chairman, District Sports Council, the so called constructed ‘Khel Gaon’ is not well equipped with basic facilities. Although the structure of sports complex is visibly complete, but there are no proper approach roads; even there is no electricity and most importantly there is no ground water in the area.

As per sources, the construction work of Khel Gaon was started in the year 2007 which was scheduled to be completed by 2009, but due to some geographical hurdles, which also include absence of water source, the project was delayed. UIT has till now spent more than Rs. 10 crore on the project to develop required facilities.

Sources also inform that UIT had drilled the land multiple times to solve the water problem, but failed to come up with a permanent solution as the water table of the area is alarmingly low, without which no sports activity is possible in the Sports Complex.
