Maharashtra Wins Under-19 Schoolgirls Cricket

Maharashtra defeated Uttar Pradesh in the finals of the 68th National Cricket Championship of SGFI by 16 runs in the finals; Rajasthan claimed the third spot defeating Jharkhand by 55 runs

Udaipur, February 4, 2025 – Maharashtra has won the 68th National Cricket Championship of SGFI for Under-19 schoolgirls defeating Uttar Pradesh (UP) by 16 runs in a thrilling final game.

UP won the toss and decided to field first. Maharashtra scored 138 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs. While chasing the target, UP could score only 122 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Pranjali was named the Player of the Match.

Maharashtra's Arohi Bambode was awarded Best Batter of the tournament for scoring the most runs. Rajasthan’s fast bowler Happy Khechad received the Best Bowler award for taking 17 wickets. Maharashtra's Dharavi was named Player of the Tournament, and the Best Fielder award went to Mahak from Chhattisgarh.

In another match played for the third place at MBA ground, Rajasthan defeated Jharkhand by 55 runs and claimed the bronze medal. Happy Khechad was named Player of the Match in this match as well.

Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was Dr SS Sarangdevot, Vice-Chancellor of Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan University. The ceremony was presided over by Dr Lokesh Bharti, District Education Officer (Secondary Education). Special guests included additional District Education Officer (Secondary Education) Murli Dhar Chobisa, Vedanta CEO Akash Narula (UP), District Education Officer (Physical Education) Lakshman Salvi, SGFI Observers Rajesh Verma and DK Singh, Hemaram Choudhary from Bikaner Directorate and others.
