Marwad beats Akola 3-0 on third day at MKM Football

Day three at the Mohan Kumar Mangalam (MKM) All India Football Tournament that is being conducted under the auspices of Hindustan Zinc Ltd and Zawar Mines Labour Union, witnessed two crucial matches, between Marwad Sports Club, Jodhpur and  YBFC Akola; Air Force Delhi and Tiyosia Club Bulandshahr.

Marwad was dominant over Akola all through the match, and playing with long passes, Marwad netted the ball in the 10th minute of the game through a strike by Param Singh.  The second goal game in the 15th minute when a long pass by Bhardwaj was netted by Paramveer, taking the Marwad team 2 goals up, increasing the pressure on Akola.  It would have been 3-0 in the next 5th minute, had a corner taken by Marwad been converted.

It seemed the Marwad team was playing to a 5 minute attack schedule, when in the 25th minute, there was another aggressive attack, and had it not been for a tremendous save by the Akola keeper, it would have been curtains for Akola in the first half itself.  Once again, in the 35th minute a super coordinated effort by Bhardwaj and Shakti Singh resulted in another goal taking the Marwad team up by 3 goals to nil, a lead which they maintained till half time.

Akola then had to play with 10 players, and inspite of getting many opportunities at Corners, were unable to convert.  Spectators, however, were very sporting and motivated them to continue playing with aggression.  The aggression continued till the end of play, with either team looking at converting goals for their ends.  The match ended with Marwad winning a dominant innings.

In the second match, both Delhi and Bulandshahr began the game with aggression, with Delhi taking the lead in the 5th minute with a self coordinated effort by Prabhjot Singh of the Air Force team.  The dominance of Delhi over Bulandshahr continued with Delhi getting a few more shots at the nets which did not convert.  The half time ended with Air Force Delhi leading 1-0.

The 3rd and 10th minute of the second half saw Delhi attacking the goal with intensity, but could not convert.  However, a concerted effort between Air Force Delhi players saw Jijo Jorenz giving a pass to Thapa, which he converted, taking Delhi 2 up.  Bulandshahr again got a corner in the 30th minute of the second half, which they could not convert.  Delhi counterattacked in the 31st minute landing the nets through Helders kick, giving the Air Force team an unassailable lead of 3-0.  Helder continued the aggression to take his team up 4-0 and the match ended with a last minute goal for Delhi, giving them a solid win of 5-0.
