June 18, 2025 - Glenn Maxwell smashed his 8th century in T20 cricket against the Los Angeles Knight Riders, hitting 13 sixes, 2 fours, and maintaining a strike rate of 216. He is playing for Washington Freedom in MLC 2025.

Maxwell had a slow start in the match, scoring only 11 runs from his first 15 balls. But after that, he changed gears and reached his century in just 48 balls. His aggressive batting made it clear he was in full hitting mode. Overall, he hit 13 sixes and 2 fours during his powerful innings.

Record-Breaking Century

Maxwell made history with his brilliant century against the Los Angeles Knight Riders. Because of his powerful innings, Washington Freedom managed to put up a big total of 208 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.

Washington Freedom's Struggle

At one point, Washington Freedom was in serious trouble. In the 12th over, the team had already lost five wickets for just 92 runs. It looked like they might not even reach 150 runs. But Maxwell showed once again why he is one of the best match-winners in T20 cricket. He took control of the game and turned things around.

Big Milestones

In this match, Maxwell also crossed 10,500 runs in T20 cricket. With this, he became the only player in the world who has scored more than 10,500 runs, taken more than 170 wickets, and also hit many centuries in this format. Apart from him, Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Malik are the only players to have scored more than 10,000 runs and taken more than 150 wickets in T20s. Pollard has more than 13,000 runs and over 300 wickets, while Malik has also scored over 13,000 runs and taken nearly 190 wickets. But Maxwell’s record of runs, wickets and centuries together is something no one else has done.

Equalling Rohit Sharma’s Record

Maxwell has now equalled Indian star Rohit Sharma in terms of the most centuries in T20 cricket. Both players have scored eight centuries in this format.

Special Moment for Parents

Maxwell’s parents were present in the stadium to watch the match. It was a special moment for the family. After the match, Maxwell said that the conditions were different, and he had to bat carefully at the start. He said he began slowly but once he realised the team needed more runs, he started playing big shots, and they worked. He added that he and Chapman planned to stay on the pitch and attack in the last 5-6 overs. Maxwell also said it felt great to perform well in front of his parents because they don’t often get to see him scoring runs live.
