May 29, 2025 - Inter Miami returned to their winning ways after a four-match streak. The team defeated Canadian club Montreal 4-2 in Major League Soccer. Star forwards Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez scored all four goals for Miami. Messi scored two goals, and Suarez also scored two. Before this win against Montreal, Miami had lost two matches and drawn two in their last four games.

Messi gave Miami the lead in the 27th minute at Chase Stadium. The goalkeeper saved his shot from outside the box but went wide and rolled in. It was the only goal of the first half, even though six goals were scored in total.

The second half started with back-to-back goals. Suarez scored in the 68th minute after a brilliant pass from Messi. Just three minutes later, he scored again to make it 3-0.

Montreal, who had only one win in their last 15 matches, scored in the 74th minute through Dantesili. But Messi struck again in the 87th minute to make the score 4-1. Montreal’s Victor Lutori added a second goal in stoppage time, but it was not enough.

After this win, Miami moved up to sixth in the MLS Eastern Conference with 26 points from 15 matches. Table-toppers Philadelphia have 33 points from 16 games. Montreal remains at the bottom with 8 points from 16 matches.

Speaking after the game, Suarez said, “We must take responsibility for the recent bad results. This win is very important. It gives us the confidence to do better in the next matches.”

Coach Concerned About Injuries

Coach Javier Mascherano was happy with the result but concerned about injuries. “We needed to get through tough times, and I’m glad we did. But injuries to Gonzalo Lujan, Tomas Aviles, and Jordi Alba are a concern,” he said. “Gonzalo and Jordi have muscle problems, and Tomas has an ankle issue. We’ll know more in a day.”

Inter Miami will face Columbus in their next match on Sunday, June 1.
