Gujarat Beat Mumbai in Rain-Hit Match
Gujarat defeated Mumbai by 3 wickets using the Duckworth-Lewis method in a rain-affected match at Wankhede Stadium last night. The game ended late due to rain. During the match, Mumbai failed to complete their bowling innings on time. Because of this, the whole team has been punished.
Hardik Pandya Fined for Slow Over-Rate
An IPL statement said, "This is the second time this season that Mumbai has had a slow over-rate. So, captain Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 24 lakh."
Other Mumbai Players Also Fined
Not just Hardik, other players of the Mumbai team—including the 'impact player' and the 'concussion substitute'—will have to pay a fine of INR 6 lakh or 25% of their match fee, whichever is lower.
Ashish Nehra Fined for Misbehaviour
Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra was seen getting angry several times during the rain delay. He argued with the on-field umpires, which is a violation of Article 2.20 of the IPL Code of Conduct. This article talks about behaviour that goes against the spirit of the game.
The IPL said in a statement, “Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra has been fined 25% of his match fee and given one demerit point.”
Nehra Accepted the Decision
There was no hearing because Nehra accepted the match referee’s decision without any objection.
