A 2-day District Level Junior Open Chess Competition started today under the joint association of the 64^th Square Chess Academy, Tagore Nagar and Vidyavihar School, under the name ‘Chess in Lakecity’.

“67 participants are competing in the competition including 9 FIDE rated players who will be competing with others in 7 segments” said Vikas Sahu, Secretary, Organizing Panel.

In an impact filled turnround, Gokul Pillai played a draw with Arpita Jain who is an Under-19 Champion (Holi Cup) and also FIDE Rate.

After Round 2, Kshitij Vaya, Bhavesh Sahu, Prabhav Maheshwari, Dhruv Dak, Vandan Lodha and Divyanshu Babel are on top with 2 points in Under 7, 9 and 11 segments.

In the Under 13 to 19 categories, Priyanshu Vaya, Harshita Sharma, Yash Purohit, Yugansh Shukla, Yogesh Hingad, Manthan Chittora, Ujjwal Soni, Mudit Babel, Chayan Dureja are ahead with 2 points whereas Shubhani Kapoor, Arpita Jain, Kuldeep Chotrani and Gokul Pillai are ahead with 1.5 points.

The remaining segments would be played on 6^th April, 2012 and the prize distribution would be held in the evening on the same day.
