Shami’s IPL Performance Amid Threats

In the ongoing IPL season, Shami has taken 6 wickets in 9 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad, with an average of 56.16. Hyderabad currently sits eighth in the points table with 7 points from 11 matches. Their recent match against Delhi Capitals was washed out due to rain, ending their hopes of reaching the playoffs. However, Shami had a major role in India's Champions Trophy win in March 2025, taking 9 wickets in 5 matches, including a 5-wicket haul against Bangladesh.

Similar Threats to Coach Gautam Gambhir

Last month, India’s coach Gautam Gambhir also received a death threat via email. Delhi Police are investigating the matter, and Gambhir has been provided with police protection. According to DCP (Central) V Harsh Vardhan, "We have received a complaint of threats sent through an email ID associated with Gautam Gambhir. The matter is being investigated, and Gambhir is already under the security of Delhi Police."

This is not the first time Gambhir has faced such threats. In November 2021, while he was a Member of Parliament, he received a similar email.
