Mohammad Shami’s Previous First-Class Fifties
Before this innings, Mohammad Shami had scored two first-class fifties. His highest was an unbeaten 56 off 70 balls on Day 5 of the second Test against England at Lord’s in 2021. His other first-class fifty came in England during the 2014 tour at Trent Bridge, which was only his seventh Test match.
Quick Cameo in Vijay Hazare Trophy
The 35-year-old pacer is also known for being a useful lower-order batsman. Earlier this year, in the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Assam, Shami scored 25 runs off just 11 balls, including three fours and a six.
Strong Domestic Performance
Shami has continued to perform in the domestic circuit after recovering from a long-term injury. The national selectors have not picked him for India in any format since the 2025 Champions Trophy win.
In the current Ranji Trophy season, he is Bengal’s second-highest wicket-taker, with 28 wickets at an average of 17.78.
