May 15, 2026: Relegation-threatened Mohammedan Sporting Club will face a do-or-die battle for survival when they host title-chasing Mumbai City FC in a high-stakes Indian Super League 2025-26 clash at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata on Friday, May 15, 2026.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM IST and will be streamed live on FanCode, while also being telecast on Sony Sports TEN 2.

The Black and White Brigade are fighting to keep their ISL status alive and will look to use home support to produce a major upset. Mohammedan SC know that anything less than a victory will officially confirm their relegation. Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC arrive in Kolkata targeting an important away win that could lift them to second place in the standings.

Mohammedan Sporting head into the contest after a difficult 1-3 defeat against Kerala Blasters FC. Despite showing glimpses of attacking promise under head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo, the Kolkata-based side have struggled for consistency throughout the campaign.

Their survival equation is now very clear — a draw or defeat will end their hopes of staying in the league. A victory, however, would move them to six points and keep their slim survival hopes alive heading into the final phase of the season. Mohammedan SC have endured a difficult campaign so far, conceding 26 goals — the highest in the league — while scoring only seven, the fewest among all teams. They are also still searching for their first win of the season.

For the hosts, Mahitosh Roy and Thokchom Adison Singh, both with two goals each, will once again be crucial in attack. Hira Mondal and Lalngaihsaka are expected to play important creative roles, although the team will miss suspended midfielder Amarjit Singh.

Mohammedan SC Determined to Fight Until the End

Head coach Mehrajuddin Wadoo stressed the importance of the fixture and insisted his side would continue fighting until the very end of the season.

“Our plan is that we approach every match with the objective to win the game. But sometimes the circumstances are beyond our control. The good thing is that this game we are playing at home and we don't have to travel,” Wadoo said.

“We will have hope till the end. Because we still have two games, if we can reach nine points, Chennaiyin FC also have nine points, we have to fight, and this match is very important for us. We have been fighting since the beginning and we promise to fight until the end.”

Defender Pukhrambam Dinesh Meitei also expressed confidence ahead of the crucial clash. “Now everything is fine. I am ready for tomorrow's match against Mumbai City FC. We will have to give our everything and win our remaining two matches. The team is motivated to perform at their best and win tomorrow,” he stated.

Meanwhile, Mumbai City FC travel to Kolkata looking to recover from a disappointing 1-2 defeat against East Bengal FC.

Currently placed seventh with 19 points from 11 matches, the Islanders see this fixture as a golden opportunity to revive their campaign. Mumbai City FC are without a win in their last four league matches, recording two draws and two defeats. Their last victory came nearly 40 days ago against Odisha FC on April 5.

A win on Friday would take them to 22 points and move them back into second place, significantly strengthening their title ambitions. Mumbai City FC will also take confidence from their impressive away record, having collected 11 of their 19 points away from home — the second-best away tally in the league. Players like Joni Kauko, Brandon Fernandes, Lallianzuala Chhangte, and Noufal P.N are expected to play key roles as the visitors aim to break down Mohammedan SC’s fragile defence.

Head coach Petr Kratky made it clear that his side cannot afford any slip-ups in the remaining matches.

“It’s very simple. We have two games to go, six points. We have to win. There’s no other way. If we want to achieve our targets, then we have to win the next two games,” Kratky said.

“Mentality will be the big thing. We cannot underestimate them because they are at the bottom of the ladder; they can hurt us on counter-attacks and set pieces. We have to make sure our energy, our fight, and our desire to win is there from the first minute to the last.” he added
