National Championship of Kayaking & Canoeing to Start from 8th November
Rajasthan Kayaking & Canoeing Association (RKCA), after its introduction of water sports in Udaipur is now holding the All India Open Kayaking and Canoeing Championship at Fatehsagar Lake from 8th November. Around 550 athletes are expected to participate from across India.
Rajasthan Kayaking & Canoeing Association (RKCA), after its introduction of water sports in Udaipur is now holding the All India Open Kayaking and Canoeing Championship at Fatehsagar Lake from 8th November. Around 550 athletes are expected to participate from across India.
Today, RKCA announced its first tournament after running the training sessions of the water sports; around 11 teams from various states of India will be participating in the contest, including Kerala, MP, Goa, Maharashtra, Bihar etc.
Kayaking and Canoeing championship is divided into 3 age categories viz. Junior (U-14), Sub-Junior (U-19) and Senior (open). Various competitions include, 200, 500, 1000 and 5 Km races in both Kayaking and canoeing.
The historic event is jointly organized by RKCA and Pacific Institute, while Indian Kayaking Canoeing Association (IKCA) will provide the due infrastructural support, including 70 boats which would be transported from Bhopal and maintaining lanes of around 1 Km. The event will start on 8th Nov at Fatehsagar lake, wherein the complete Paal area will be occupied till 11th Nov.
According to Dilip Singh Chouhan, Organizing Secretary, RKCA around 175 Gold, Silver and Bronze medals would be awarded among 550 participants, of which 450 are males and female head count would be around 100. Along with the participants, 50 game officials and 25 members of IKCA also be in town.
