New Asian Record in Asian Powerlifting Championship

The Fifth day of the Asian Powerlifting Championship being held in the Kohinoor Ballroom at the Inder Residency Hotel saw a new Asian record being created by Kuvambayev Jaalim of Kazakhstan when he won the Gold Medal in the 93 kg Senior Men’s Category by lifting a 246 kg in the Bench Press round, beating the previous best of 245 kg.

Apart from this performance the following were the results of the day.

93 kg – Sub Junior Men’s Category

Gold: Ayoobi Naseer Ahmed, Afghanistan – 620 kg total weight

Silver: Cruz Clark, Philippines – 585 kg total weight

93 kg –Junior Men’s Category

Gold: Alexander, Kazakhstan – 820 kg total weight

Silver: Raghuvendra Gaud, India – 717.5 kg total weight

Bronze: Neeraj Jain, India – 472.5 kg total weight

93 kg –Senior Men’s Category

Gold: Kuvambayev Jaalim, Kazakhstan – 921 kg total weight

Silver: Santdul Siddhabutar, Indonesia – 812.5 kg total weight

Bronze: Ahmed Ramadan, Iraq – 790 kg total weight

93 kg –Masters Men’s Category

Gold: Khardin Constatin, Uzbekistan – 655 kg total weight

Silver: T.K. Ramchandran, India – 600 kg total weight

93 kg –Masters -2 Men’s Category

Gold: Kireembikov, Kirgizstan – 620 kg total weight

Silver: T.K. Vikas, India – 617.5 kg total weight

Bronze: Arjun Sagarvanshi, India – 577.5 kg total weight

93 kg –Masters -3 Men’s Category

Gold: Harish Kumar, India– 470 kg total weight

Silver: T.K. Vikas, India – 617.5 kg total weight

Bronze: Arjun Sagarvanshi, India – 577.5 kg total weight

Vinod Sahu, the Joint Secretary of the Organizing Committee said that the Prize Distribution today was conducted by the Vice President of the Field Club Yashwant Anchaliya, Secretary of the Field Club S.G. Chhabra and Joint Secretary Umesh Manwani.

He further added that apart from the above performances, the Gold in the Men’s 105 kg Sub Junior Category, Taariq Noor of Afghanistan won the Gold by lifting a total of 720 kg.

In the Master-1 Men’s Category under the 105 kg body weight, Japan’s Nakasima won Gold by lifting 690 kg in total weight and India’s Manjit Singh and Lalit Kumar Patel won Silver and Bronze respectively by lifting 675 and 600 kg respectively.

Further, in the Master-3 Men’s Category under the 105 kg body weight, Afghanistan’s Fareed Ahmed won Gold by lifting 540 kg in total weight and India’s Puran Singh won Silver by lifting 435 kg.

The Gold medal in the 105 kg Men’s Junior category went to Japan, when Handa Toshihiro 770 kg in total weight.  The Silver went to Al Bedani from Iraq when he managed a total lift of 740 kg.  India won the Bronze when Shivnarayan Vyas lifted 715 kg.

Yashmakanov from Kazakhstan lifted 946kg in total weight to win the Gold in the 105 kg Men’s Category; Al Khamashi from Iraq lifted 847.5 kg to pick up Silver and Jima Tusinhiro from Japan won the Bronze by lifting 788 kg in total weight.

Tomorrow being the last day of the tournament, will witness the 120 kg and over 120kg rounds.
