In IPL 2025, Riyan Parag captained the Rajasthan Royals in the first three matches.
Udaipur, April 2, 2025: In IPL 2025, Riyan Parag captained the Rajasthan Royals in the first three matches. However, the team will now have to change its captain. Rajasthan Royals had appointed Riyan Parag as captain for the initial matches, while Sanju Samson also played in all three games but only as a batsman. He was not seen on the field and came out to bat as an impact player. Now, reports suggest that Sanju Samson will lead the Rajasthan Royals in the next match, while Riyan Parag will continue to play as a batsman.
Sanju Samson Fully Fit - To Captain RR
Sanju Samson suffered a finger injury before IPL 2025, which prevented him from fielding. However, he was allowed to bat while keeping his injured finger inside the gloves. The BCCI's new NCA Center of Excellence permitted him to play as a batsman only.
Passed Fitness Test
After playing three matches, Samson went back to the Center of Excellence for a fitness test. He has now been declared fully fit and can return to the field as a fielder and wicketkeeper. The Rajasthan Royals themselves confirmed this news, stating that they have received clearance from the BCCI.
Rajasthan Royals Relieved
This is a big relief for the Rajasthan Royals, as Samson is now ready to take over the captaincy and wicket-keeping duties. Under Riyan Parag’s captaincy, the team played three matches, winning one and losing two. The Rajasthan Royals will now play their next match against Punjab on Saturday, April 5, at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
