For sports enthusiasts in Udaipur, a new cricket ground is set to be inaugurated in the city's sports hub, Maharana Pratap Khelgaon, located at Chitrakoot Nagar area. This state-of-the-art facility, costing approximately Rs 1.15 crore, is poised to elevate the city's sporting landscape.
International Standards Stadium
The newly constructed cricket ground adheres to international standards, having features akin to renowned cricket stadiums. It features a meticulously laid grass surface, alike to the one found in Jaipur's international cricket ground, with five meticulously prepared pitches of black soil. Notably, the boundary dimensions align with international standards, with a length of 100 meters on opposite sides and 80 meters on the leg and off sides.
Accessible to Players
Lalit Singh Jhala, the in-charge of Udaipur Khel Gaon, affirmed that the ground will be accessible to city residents for cricket matches. The allocation of the ground for matches and events will be determined by the Maharana Pratap Society, with fees to be decided in an upcoming meeting. This initiative aims to address the demand for cricket facilities in Udaipur.
While the cricket ground awaits the completion of its pavilions and spectator stands in the second phase of development, plans are in place to fully equip the facility. Presently, the highest number of cricket competitions in the city are hosted at the Field Club Ground on Saheli Nagar Road and Shikarbadi on Govardhan Sagar. Additionally, the Shikarbadi Ground is equipped with floodlights, enabling day and night matches.
Future Developments: Second Major Stadium
Plans are underway for the construction of a second major stadium in Kanpur Kheda. This international cricket stadium, spread across 25 acres, will accommodate approximately 30,000 spectators. The Rajasthan Cricket Association has already made significant contributions towards this project, with the initial land leveling completed and construction in progress.
